Bose is bringing back a classic format by announcing its first pair of wired earbuds in over a decade. After moving away from tethered options in 2015, the company is returning to its roots with the Bose Noise Cancelling Wired Earbuds. This move caters to users tired of battery anxiety and the constant cycle of charging wireless devices, offering a plug and play experience that removes the stress of running out of power mid song.
While these buds lean into nostalgia, they aren’t exactly relics. They incorporate over ten years of acoustic evolution, most notably featuring active noise canceling powered by Bose’s QuietControl technology. Using two microphones per earbud, listeners can toggle between different settings via an inline remote. Users can choose Quiet Mode to drown out the world, Aware Mode to stay mindful of their surroundings, or disable the noise cancellation entirely when it isn’t needed.
Connectivity has evolved since the last time Bose offered a wire, meaning you won’t find a traditional headphone jack here. Instead, the four foot cable ends in a USB C connector designed for modern smartphones and laptops, ensuring high fidelity lossless audio with very little lag. To make them practical for daily life, Bose added an IPX4 water resistance rating to protect against rain and sweat, though they should still be kept far away from any deep water.
